Conga project could be canceled

The operations have been halted and hundreds of workers have been laid off, according to a local newspaper. At 8:30 am, the Ministry of Energy and Mines will give a press conference about it.
The Conga mining project in Cajamarca, has suspended operations and made the dismissal of hundreds of workers, reported the daily La República.
There has been no official statement from Buenaventura, nor from a representative of Newmont Mining in Peru, operators of the project.
At 8:30 am, according to the Portal Financiero program, the Ministry of Energy and Mines will give a press conference about this notice.
