The chief executive of North American mining company, Gary Glodberg, announced they would take a decision after regional elections next year.
Denver (Reuters). – The board of Newmont Mining will revalue the Conga project in 2015 after regional elections which are scheduled for late next year, said its chief executive, Gary Goldberg.
The project, developed together with Buenaventura, has been delayed for more than a year amid social protests, mainly due to environmental concerns.
Yesterday, President Ollanta Humala declared that “decisions to advance Conga do not correspond to the state but to the company itself.”
