Civil society demands removal of mining machinery from mountain lakes

The various grassroots organisations of Haulgayoc, Cajamarca, San Marcos and Celendin, which came to an agreement at a General Assembly on 11th March, demand the removal of all types of mining machinery from the ancestral territory in which the Conga mining project is located. They have given Yanacocha 48 hours, from the time their press release was published, to comply.

Tomorrow, 17th March 2014, the organizations and the local population in general will congregate in mass at the mountain lakes under threat, to ensure that their demands have been met.
