It is estimated that there are between 200,000 and 250,000 ronderos across Peru  grouped in about 8,000 committees. In Cajamarca, home of the peasant patrols (las rondas campesinas), there are about 100,000 active patrollers (Ronderos). See http://cunarcperu.org.
